36th Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference Has Concluded

Virtual Conference Announcement

Posted: August 17, 2020

Dear Conference Friends,

We want to take this opportunity to share the news that the 2021 CSUN Assistive Technology Conference will be an entirely virtual event.  Although this was not an easy decision, the Center on Disabilities team, with input from our CSUN advisors and conference colleagues, considered all options, but we are confident that this is the right way forward.

Along with all of you, we have hoped and waited to see if the COVID-19 global pandemic situation would improve and we might see some signs of a return to our previous way of life.  Unfortunately, at this point, there does not appear that anything will change the current circumstances in the near future and allow us to hold next year’s conference as planned on-site at the Anaheim Marriott. As the pandemic continues, it has become clear that it is more important, and necessary to protect the well-being of our community. The health and safety of the CSUN Conference attendees must be our number one priority – and the best way to ensure that safety is to hold the conference in a virtual space.

We know that it is hard to imagine a year without an in-person gathering. While it is disappointing that we will not be able to physically engage, interact and network personally on-site, we are excited about planning and creating a quality virtual learning and engagement experience that will be open to an even wider audience. The Center on Disabilities team is already working hard on this first virtual CSUN Conference to provide a positive conference experience for all participants.

We know that you have questions about what the 2021 CSUN Conference will look like, and we ask for your patience and cooperation as we shift our planning and begin to work on this new format. The conference website will be updated throughout the coming months as new details are finalized, and we encourage you to check back frequently.

Important Note: All Calls for Presentations will proceed as usual. As a reminder, the Journal Call for Presentations is August 20 - September 8, the General Call for Presentations is September 10-29 and the Call for Pre-Conference Workshops is August 20 - September 29.  Information on procedures for the Calls will be communicated shortly so we encourage you to check the conference website and make sure you are on the conference mailing list for news specific to the Calls for Presentations.

We are excited to bring the 2021 CSUN Conference to you and hope that you will join us from wherever you will be!
